Best of Beauty: Winter 2017

Over the past few months I’ve discovered an unusual abundance of products that have completely changed my life and that I consider the best of beauty.

First and foremost, organic COCONUT OIL! I use this for just about everything. For a hair treatment, I apply a liberal amount from the root to tip, tie it in a bun, and throw on a shower cap. Let it soak for 20-30 minutes then shower it out and you’re left with super silky hair. I also use it as a DIY lip scrub: mix a pea sized amount with some cane sugar  and rub it all over your lips then remove any excess with a tissue. This creates a smooth and moisturized base for any lip product. Liquid lipsticks can be a bit stubborn to get off but coconut oil solves that problem, too. Just a little bit on a cotton round will remove any lingering color. It has been my absolute go-to product for the last few months!

Jaclyn Hill Morphe Palette

This palette is everything I ever needed in an eyeshadow palette. It has your mattes, shimmers, your wild colors, your neutrals, your cranberries and bronze shades. The quality of the 35 shadows is top notch and, at only $38, it’s honestly quite a steal. It’s my favorite palette because of its versatility; I’m not sure I’ll ever need another palette in my life.

Maybelline Concealer and Highlighter

Maybelline has been totally killing the game lately. I adore my Tarte Shape Tape concealer but don’t want to spend the money on it all the time and the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind is the best drugstore concealer option. It’s not Shape Tape, but it’s creamy and full coverage without being cakey (and it’s in my budget). Also, the Master Chrome Highlighter is THE BEST drugstore highlighter on the market. It has a beautiful gold shade and can be built up from a subtle glow to a blinding shimmer.

Not Your Mothers Double Take Dry Finish Texture Spray

This is my favorite for adding texture and volume to curls. When I’m finished curling my hair, I spray this at the roots and rub it in with my fingertips to create some lift. Then I spray it sparingly through the rest of my hair to hold the curls, keep them from falling flat, and make sure they stay separated. I definitely prefer this over any hairspray!

NuMe Straightener

For years I was a die-hard CHI gal, but when my beloved straightener kicked the bucket earlier this year I decided to try out NuMe instead. I have a black Silhouette straightener and I love it just as much, if not a little more, than I loved my CHI. It’s a busy girl’s dream:  it heats up in about 30 seconds and straightens my super curly hair with just one or two passes so I have straight hair in nearly half the time.

Whispering Willow Rose Body Oil

This stuff completely changed my skin. I use it in place of a body lotion because it is all natural and doesn’t contain all of those extra ingredients. I apply it on damp skin just after taking a shower and it absorbs to leave my body smooth, hydrated, and smelling like a bunch of roses 🙂

Tea Tree Leave-In Conditioner Spray

My hair can be a little coarse in spots so I love a good leave-in conditioner to help out. This one has been my go-to for the past few days because it leaves my hair soft and smelling like lavender, which is my absolute favorite scent ever! A few spritzes on damp hair and you’re good to go!

Garnier Ultra-Life Miracle Sleeping Cream

I’ve been searching for a nice night cream for a while now (because apparently I’m at the age where it’s important to start anti-aging for the ~future~)and just recently stumbled upon this Garnier one. I apply it after washing my face before hopping into bed, and when I wake up in the morning my skin is super hydrated and supple. It has a nice thick consistency but doesn’t clog my pores or break me out which I appreciate.
